Two weeks ago, one of our members gave up his life.
While our aim in this newsletter is always to highlight and share ‘the positives’ – I personally believe this needs to be shared. Mates close to this young man; knew nothing about the apparent anguish he was going through. As a team at CP who welcomed him into the club each day, we didn’t know about the way he was feeling.
Then suddenly, those left behind have nothing but emotional pain and questions.
The COVID lockdowns taught us the importance of camaraderie, friendships, family and community to mental health. Millions worldwide were isolated during this time, and the aftermath is often said to be worse than the actual disease.
We need to work on our communication.’ Perhaps even more important a challenge, for ‘Westy Men’. Allot of guys tend to withhold their emotions, to avoid heartfelt communication and to give one-word answers. Like the typical, “How are your today?”.” …Good”.
If your current circumstances are troubling you, or if you find life a little too overwhelming, please do make an effort to ‘communicate’. The team at Club Physical often have the time to share a listening ear, you could go to a café and share your concerns with your mate. You could confide in a close family member. You could go along to Church where you’ll always find someone who can help. You could join a business group or go along to Toastmasters to learn how to communicate better.
The immense value of your life is incalculable. There’s a big wide world out there. There are unlimited adventures to be had, changes of scenery, fresh ideas and perspectives and millions of people who need help, YOUR help. Far better than throwing your own life away.
Perhaps we do need to ‘Talk’!
