We often start the year setting goals for the big changes we will make in the new year. It is the perfect opportunity to use the date to mark the beginning of change. Everyone has burning desires to make changes but need an excuse to kick them out of their procrastination habits. Not everyone has a goal but may have new habits, intentions, or words that they would like to bring into the new year.
The CP team had a catch-up meeting this week to discuss plans for the team and the club. The team are very motivated and have each set goals that they are intrinsically motivated by. It was inspiring to hear the thoughts and feelings going into the new year; athletic performance goals, family goals, career goals, health goals, and personal growth goals.
Our awesome Sam came up with a word that she is bringing into 2026; BUILD. Build is a strong word that can’t be rushed. It doesn’t happen over night, it implies continuous learning, reflection, consistently laying bricks, and seeking improvement. It is building on yesterday; keeping things that help you, and removing things that don’t.
In the context of health and fitness; it is building strength, improving energy, developing better recovery, and learning to listen to your body.
In family and friend life; it is being more present, patient, and intentional with where and who we invest time into.
In personal and purpose; staying curious and never complacent, seeking challenges, and developing with this fast paced world around us.
This year doesn’t have to be a rush, lay down your bricks, build on yesterday, be patient, be consistent, stack your wins, and BUILD yourself.
