Keeping Focus

When life gets busy, it’s easy to give up on things; previous commitments that you have made…dates you have booked… appointments you have diarised. But life (personal and professional), wellness, health and fitness, isn’t about perfection… It is about consistency. It’s about keeping the promises you’ve made to yourself and others.

It is often better to under promise, and over deliver.

Our Focus-42 team is approaching mid week five of six, and the excitement and motivation from the early stages has worn off. It was easy to make all the promises at the beginning… But now it becomes a challenge, when you are tired at the end of a work day… it’s hard to pick up your book and read 10 pages, or go outside and get 3 thousand more steps in. This is where discipline and preparedness becomes your best friend and tool to keep yourself in it.

We have noticed that everyone struggles with something different within the challenge, some have the habit already, some have to constantly battle to complete the daily tasks. It’s amazing how easy things sound when you first commit, but it’s a different story to follow through when plans change and things don’t go your way.

It’s not the task itself… It’s about following through with the challenge you set for yourself, and showing up for yourself. The act of ticking off healthy habits is showing yourself respect and the ability to stack small wins. These wins and habits compound, the consistency builds resilience, and resilience helps get through tough times.

Remember that it’s better to be consistently good than occasionally great. Always do what you say you are going to do, because no-one else will do it for you!
