Talking with some members from Rutherford College we’re reminded that student’s exams are about to begin, it’s a reminder of how working-out serves to reduce your stress, clear your head and sharpen your mind.
Although we’ve often associated going to the gym with your ‘body’, especially since the Lockdowns, it’s become starkly obvious that workouts are equally important for your brain, your emotional well-being and the reduction of anxiety.
Physical exercise around exam time increases blood flow to your brain and enhances cognitive functions like memory and problem-solving skills. The boost to your brain activity can help you to retain information better and to think more clearly during exams.
Of course, working-out releases endorphins, which are natural mood lifters. In addition, the social connection and release during exam time, will help you to feel better and to perform at your best.
