Is a Recovery Plan absent from your workout routine?

Over the last 2-3 weeks I seem to be reading and hearing similar repeated messages from both books and podcasts. ‘Recovery and relaxation’ are as important as your workouts. We live in a drive – drive – drive society where people who work hard, do get ahead. But sometimes this comes at the cost of true ‘wellness’ and happiness.

I am guilty of this mentality having, for several years with Tina, overseen sixteen gyms at a time, a team of over 350…….and more recently my personal workouts had been stretched to nearly three hours a day. I’ve seen a number of others doing similar. But I’ve had a bit of an epiphany and have taken my foot off the gas a little in order to ‘smell the roses’.

This has come at a time when there’s been allot more talk about ‘Recovery’. While most gym-goers obsess over reps and routines, the real gains might be hiding in your rest days. Thanks to AI-powered wearables and smart recovery tools, your body’s downtime is becoming the new frontier of fitness.

From Club Physical’s MYZONE, EVOLT scans, WHOOP bands to Garmin’s Body Battery, these devices track sleep, stress, and strain to recommend when—and how—you should train. But it’s not just about skipping leg day. AI is now guiding everything from hydration timing to post-workout nutrition, tailored to your unique physiology.

Why it matters for Club Physical members:

  • Recovery is no longer passive. It’s strategic.
  • Smart tools can help prevent burnout and injury.
  • Personalized insights mean better performance with less guesswork.

The efforts and health disciplines you have gained in the gym are extremely commendable and should continue. But for overall holistic wellness and happiness, it could be time to also plan your rest, family time and recovery.
